Presents/Wrapped 2017

The series ‘Wrapped’ shows ugly wrapped gifts, exploring meaning, symbolism and metaphor that gifts inhabit. They put the receiver in an in-between place of joy and worry, trying to identify the content.

However, to know what the wrapping covers, the gift needs to be unwrapped. While this is possible with real presents, is it impossible for the depicted ones in the

series “wrapped”. Another point the
series stands for is emotional baggage that each and everyone carries. The idea behind this is that not everything is always perfect. The inside counts, not the super-pretty appearance. In other words, content over form.
